Packaging and Presentation
This Italian Regional Edition was presented in numbered slide-lid boxes containing 10 cigars, each individually wrapped in gold foil. The production was strictly limited to just 1,020 boxes, making this a genuinely scarce release for collectors and enthusiasts.
The cigars feature a special Punch Diadema Extra band accompanied by the distinctive Regional Edition secondary band marked "Italia," clearly identifying this as an exclusive release for the Italian market.
Release Timeline and Production Challenges
Although officially designated as a 2008 release with a January 1, 2008 date, the Diademas Extra did not reach retailers until early 2010. This unusual two-year delay stemmed from complications with the gold foil packaging. According to reports, the initial batch of gold foil was lost, the replacement batch proved unsuitable for use, and the final acceptable batch did not arrive until late 2009.
While frustrating for eager customers at the time, these production difficulties have only added to the mystique and collectibility of this Regional Edition.
