History and Evolution

The Lusitanias traces its origins to before 1960, making it a true classic in the Cuban cigar canon. However, the cigar underwent a significant transformation in 1976. Until that year, the Lusitanias was produced in the 109 vitola format, measuring 50 ring gauge by 184mm. The modern iteration adopted its current Prominentes dimensions at that time, and production has continued uninterrupted to the present day.

Packaging and Presentation

Over its long production history, the Lusitanias has been offered in several packaging formats:

- Dress box of 25 cigars — The standard presentation
- Dress box of 10 cigars — Introduced in 2007
- Slide lid box of 50 cigars — Traditional bulk packaging
- Cardboard pack of 3 cigars — Released approximately 2003

The banding configuration has evolved as well. Cigars packaged in dress boxes have always featured the standard Partagás band A followed by band B. Slide lid boxes, however, originally contained unbanded cigars until 2004, after which the standard band arrangement was adopted.
