Davidoff Château Mouton Rothschild

Davidoff Château Mouton Rothschild

The Davidoff Château Mouton Rothschild stands as one of the most sought-after discontinued cigars from the legendary Davidoff Cuban era. Introduced in 1983 and produced for only six years before being discontinued in 1989, this cigar has become increasingly rare and highly prized among collectors and connoisseurs of vintage Cuban tobacco.

Historical Background

Released at the beginning of 1983, the Château Mouton Rothschild was part of Davidoff's prestigious Château series, which paid homage to some of France's most celebrated wine estates. The cigar was produced at the El Laguito factory in Havana during the partnership between Zino Davidoff and Cubatabaco. Its relatively short production window of just six years makes surviving examples particularly difficult to find in today's market.

Band and Packaging

Early production examples of the Château Mouton Rothschild were sold without bands, consistent with Davidoff's initial approach to the Château series. Around 1980, the standard Davidoff "Band A" was introduced to the line. The cigars were originally packaged in elegant slide-lid boxes containing either 25 or 50 cigars, reflecting the premium positioning of this release within the Davidoff portfolio.

Collectibility

Given its brief production span and the passage of several decades since manufacture ceased, the Davidoff Château Mouton Rothschild has attained genuine rarity status. Well-preserved boxes and individual cigars command significant interest at auction and among specialized cigar collectors. The Cuban-made Davidoff cigars, particularly those from limited production runs like this one, represent an important chapter in luxury cigar history.
